Spring Classic and Memorial Day Cup

05/30/09

By Roy

During the spring season, the ladies of FC Dallas Red South participated in the Spring Cup Showcase tournament and went 3-0 with wins over Lubbock Arsenal 94G, TFC 94G, and Sting Blue 94 by a combined score of 10 goals for, to 3 against. Well done, ladies!

Also, over Memorial Day weekend, the ladies participated in the North American Memorial Day Cup, and made the finals before losing to Dallas Texans Red North. In bracket play, the ladies were able to overcome what is fast becoming an intense rivalry with DFW Tornados 93 White, a rough game with Vitesse 93, and a relatively sloppy performance against CDI 93. On the last day of the tournament, the ladies played well, but were beaten by the Texans, twice, by the same 1-0 scores. Well done again; time to start a new win streak and carry that into next year! Next up is the 2009 Rocky Mountain Cup & College Showcase... Good luck, ladies!

FC Dallas Red South 94G earns promotion

05/30/09

By Roy

With a little luck and a lot of hard work, the ladies of FC Dallas Red South 94G put together a four game win-streak in the second half of the Lake Highlands Girls Classic League U16-D3 season, to finish tied for second place. Although the team finished tied for second in points, the tie-breaker was won by Wichita Falls Xpress by virtue of a win in the fall. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, Wichita Falls was unable to accept the promotion/bye to D2, and thus it was offered to FC Dallas Red South 94G and was gladly accepted! By virtue of this promotion, and new league rules, FC Dallas Red South 94G is assured of a birth in the league for the next two years. Great job ladies!

Austin Labor Day Cup 2008

Warm-up shirt designed by the team makes its debut at ALDC

The team packed their bags and headed for the hills... The Hill Country, that is. After dominating bracket play, despite a 2-2 tie with Sting Blue 94, the girls entered the semi-finals against a well rested Lonestars 94 Blue team on Sunday afternoon. They did not have to play many of their main players, since they could afford to lose and still advance in the morning game. Having just "suffered" a tie with Sting after leading 2-0 in their morning game, the girls were in no mood to mess around. They took a lead and stifled the Lonestars at every turn. In Mondays final against Sting Blue 94, the girls were victims of a little complacency and a LOT of questionable calls; calls that resulted in FOUR scoring opportunities, two of them PKs in the box. Leading 2-0, the girls watched that lead evaporate on a good play by Sting, and those calls, of which Sting converted two... Still it was a good and fun weekend for all. Well played, ladies!
